Mike Werner, MSc, P.Eng., joined SMA Consulting after working as a site inspector for tunneling and open-cut construction projects. He received his Master of Science in Construction Engineering and Management at the University of Alberta in 2017, specializing in this area. Over the past seven years, Mike has gained significant expertise in risk management and project controls, including Monte Carlo simulation of cost and schedule. Mike has been involved in the City of Edmonton’s Valley Line LRT, with experience in all project phases from preliminary design and procurement phase through to construction. In addition, Mike has provided management support to the City of Edmonton related to decision support, workshop facilitation, project delivery analysis, and contract administration and compliance. He is currently working as a project manager on the Valley Line West LRT project, which is in the construction phase.
