Dr. Saeid Moharrami holds a PhD in Geotechnical Engineering and Construction Management from the University of Alberta, having successfully defended his doctoral thesis in 2023. Saeid’s research contributions have expanded the understanding of construction engineering with a tangible impact on industry practices.
With a wealth of experience in geotechnical and geo-environmental engineering, Saeid has successfully completed diverse assignments involving the design and modeling of tunnels, such as the NATM method; shafts using various methods, including rib and liner plate and timber lagging; deep excavation stability analysis and analysis of soil nailing using Plaxis; microtunneling construction; HDD design and hydraulic fracturing analysis and CIPP lining projects; retaining wall designs; ground improvement initiatives; pile capacity analysis and evaluation of pore water pressure dissipation on pile strength gain capacity; and geoscience interpolation techniques, such as Kriging, IWD, and simulation.
Saeid plays a vital role at SMA as an analyst and designer for trenchless construction projects, specifically focusing on tunnels, shafts, and manholes. Additionally, he provides support for drainage and special projects, conducting risk analysis, generating comprehensive reports, and overseeing project controls, including Earned Value Analysis, and scheduling.
