Dr. Simaan AbouRizk, PhD, PEng, FRSC, is an award-winning pioneer in construction simulation and risk management. His contributions in the field include over 350 technical publications as well as four textbooks. He has taught project and construction management and construction processes at the Hole School of Construction Engineering at the University of Alberta since 1990. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and holds the prestigious Canada Research Chair in Operation Simulation at the University of Alberta. Dr. AbouRizk founded SMA Consulting Ltd. in 1995 with a focus on maximizing value and minimizing risk for clients on every project, providing high-quality support for construction front-end planning, and delivering specialty consulting and advisory services based on cutting-edge research. Dr. AbouRizk has led some of Edmonton’s most complex projects, including every LRT project in the last 15 years, along with bridges, highways, tunnels, drainage, airports, and more.
