SMA’s Jace Thibault Wins the 2026 Consulting Engineers of Alberta Harold L. Morrison Rising Young Professional Award
SMA Consulting is proud to congratulate our colleague, core team member, and friend, Jace Thibault, on winning the 2026 Consulting Engineers of Alberta Harold L. Morrison Rising Young Professional Award. We are thrilled to see Jace recognized for so many of the qualities we are lucky enough to experience in our daily interactions with him. An exceptional engineer, a dedicated mentor, a natural leader, and an affable coworker always willing to lend a helping hand, Jace is a key leader at SMA, helping to shape our culture and our reputation with clients and the wider industry.
Jace has been a vital presence at SMA since joining our company in 2017, bringing his attention to detail and insight to every project he undertakes. Jace has been deeply involved in several of Edmonton’s LRT and other major infrastructure projects, many of which have won CEA and other national awards. He led the SMA team on the successful Metro Line LRT expansion from NAIT to Blatchford project, which was delivered within budget and ahead of schedule. He has also been instrumental in developing tools and approaches to support our clients’ informed decision-making, and his eye for innovation makes him a highly valued member of every project team.
In his time at SMA, Jace has not only earned a thesis-based Master’s of Science in Construction Engineering and Management at the University of Alberta with a 4.0 GPA, but has also obtained a Project Management Professional accreditation from the Project Management Institute, and a P.Eng. certification from APEGA. Outside of the professional sphere, Jace has been a mentor (both for University of Alberta students and SMA’s co-ops), an active musician, and a competitive power lifter. We are grateful to have Jace at the heart of our firm and are thrilled to have his excellence officially recognized with this prestigious award. Congratulations, Jace!
