SMA is pleased to welcome Tom Kays as our new Contract Management and Claims Portfolio Manager, providing leadership to our team in contract development and management and claims prevention and support. He will leverage his extensive expertise in forensic schedule analysis, claims evaluation and quantification, and cost analysis to meet our clients’ needs in these areas.

With over 20 years’ experience in Construction Engineering and Management, and senior involvement on many large projects, Tom brings a wealth of knowledge to SMA. His experience on major projects such as the Syncrude UE-1, CNRL Horizon, Suncor MNU, Suncor Voyageur, Conclin BlackGold and many more oilsands projects in Alberta and Saskatchewan has helped him build a strong skillset in strategic planning, operational management, and providing direction and supervision to project teams. Whether it’s to provide advisory input on contract strengths and deficiencies or to assess your project’s claims preparedness, Tom’s knowledge and experience can give your team the insight it needs.

In addition to holding a Master’s of Science in Construction Engineering, Tom is a registered Professional Engineer with APEGA and a certified Project Management Professional with the Project Management Institute.
